MARIA (TINA) MARTINS It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria (Tina) on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 after a courageous battle with ALS. Maria (Tina) was born in Terceira, Açores, lived much of her life in Winnipeg before moving to Calgary, AB. She embraced life and all of its possibilities. Maria (Tina) was predeceased by her parents, Maria Beatriz Martins and Joao Vaz Martins. Maria will always be in the hearts and memories of her loving partner Michell Christie of Calgary AB; sons Christopher and Brian; daughter Meagan Wozney (Bill); sister Helen and brother-in-law Craig as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends residing in Winnipeg, California and the Açores. In accordance to her wishes, Vigil Prayers will be said at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Immaculate Conception Parish, 181 Austin Street. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 also at the Immaculate Conception Parish with the Rev. Fr. Eduardo Medeiros the celebrant. Entombment will take place in the Assumption Roman Catholic Cemetery, Queen of Heaven Mausoleum. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Fong, and all of the staff at the ALS Society for their kindness, thoughtfulness and support shown to the family during this long trying time.
